Inspiration for ARCHERY800 – 3D with a Twist
The spark for ARCHERY800 was lit during a trip to Europe, where we went for some archery continuing education. Over there, traditional archery is everywhere. You’ll stumble across public 3D courses with up to a hundred targets—just pay a small fee, grab your bow, and off you go.
While we were in Germany to take part in a course with Henry Bodnik, we had the chance to spend time with him and swap stories with traditional archers from all over Europe. The vibe was fantastic—lots of laughs, tricky shots, and a relaxed approach to shooting. Archers embraced quirky challenges, odd shooting positions, and unexpected distances, all with a big smile. It wasn’t about perfection—it was about trying new things and enjoying the moment.
At the lodge where we stayed in Germany, we spotted something unforgettable: a giant pot outside stuffed full of lost-and-found arrows from their 3D course. If you were lucky, you might even fish out one of your own that had been missing for weeks, months—or maybe years! And if not, no big deal. People just shrugged and said with a grin, “Stuff happens.”
That carefree spirit stuck with us. On the way home we thought: let’s add a little of that flavour to the archery fun we already have in the Maritimes.
And that’s how ARCHERY800 ‘3D with a twist – A bit of Bodnik Style, a bit of Adventure’ – was born.
